in Materials Science & Engineering for undergraduates
The Minor in Materials Science requires the completion of 15 credits in materials related courses, including MSEG 302, some of which may contribute to the major degree. Engineering students study the basic engineering properties of materials in courses taught by the Materials Science and Engineering faculty and can also select from a range of advanced technical elective courses.
The introductory course MSEG 302 is required for chemical, civil & environmental, and mechanical engineering majors and is a prerequisite for the advanced materials science courses. In addition, all engineering departments offer senior projects concerned with the properties of materials. The technical elective courses are strongly recommended for students intending to pursue graduate degrees in Materials Science and Engineering.
The Minor in Materials Science requires completion of 15 credits with a minimum grade of C-. MSEG 302 is a required course and the remainder may be drawn from a wide variety of courses in Materials Science, Engineering, Physics and Chemistry courses up to the 600 level.
